take it away!

it's a running theme around here, but our kids are definitely a little obsessed with baseball. otto especially. they study their baseball cards, they turn any toy into a bat and ball and run the bases, and they love singing "take me out to the ballgame" and "God bless america." here is the latest rendition. the video is a little long. notice how otto totally hams it up for his audience.

me mi mo meta....greta!

we've been singing "the name game" a lot this summer and greta has picked up on it pretty quickly. supposedly, being able to play with sounds in words (changing the sounds around, making 'nonsense' words) is a good skill for reading/phonics/phonemic awareness....blah blah blah. i would always sing this with the kids i taught and they loved it, so i figured greta would too and i was right.
greta will sing this song for a while, running through the names of everyone and every family unit (patrick, emily, tom, sarah.....holly, jesse, caroline, owen.....) she can think of. this video was taken at lunch after she got home from her first day of school, so i am guessing that there is someone named "max" in her class. take it away, greta.....

"newport, KENTUCKY!!"

joe made up a song to teach greta her address...she learned it after singing it just a few times. hilarious. and contagious. it's been stuck in my head for the past two days. here's a video of her singing it....such a good idea joe!

baa baa black sheep

here is some cute video of greta "singing" baa baa black sheep. on this particular day she had been sick, and so was more willing than usual to sit with us and "talk". her little voice cracks me up....as does the way that both joe and greta react when i turn the video camera on. she loves singing lately, and will sing "baa baa" for this song and will do the hand motions to twinkle twinkle little star. last night she sat on my lap and just STARED at me while i sang song after song, and she was totally watching my mouth move as i sang. either that, or she was trying to focus on my mouth so she could tune out my lovely singing voice. be sure to have your volume up a bit to enjoy joe and greta's singing.

But only duets
