fashionista?

greta continues to enjoy picking out her own clothes. on this day, we were clearing out her dresser and moving some clothes around, so some clothes appeared that had made their way to the back of the drawer, and for good reason. behold....hand me down dora shirt, too small leggings, tutu, and halloween socks. she was in love with this outfit. until she tried to go to the bathroom with all of those clothes on.

i took this photos to show greta's unique clothing choices of late. greta is able to get dressed (and undressed) with minimal help from us. she seems to enjoy practicing these skills and likes to change her clothes a few times a day. she will make up an excuse like, "these clothes are wet" or "these have pee and poo on them" so that she can change. i don't mind a bit...the educator in me loves that she is obviously driven to hone these skills. the mom in me appreciates that she can get ready independently. but i am struggling with ACCEPTING her clothes choices....some of the ensembles she comes up with are pretty fantastic. like this day....her hot cocoa shirt on a 60 degree day, blue leggings a few sizes too small, and her gymnastics leotard pulled halfway up. love it.
oh....i forgot to mention the scrape on her nose. that's her latest accessory. she went for her first bike ride of the season and i guess took a little spill. just in time for all our vacation and easter photos. :)

.....while wearing mama's headbands. or papa's work socks with a hole in the toe. but doesn't she look like she's posing? i think she's just ahead of her time when it comes to accessorizing.

lately, greta is sort of obsessed with putting clothes on and off. i like to think it's her way of working on the skills of getting dressed independently. the thing of it is, she will put on anyone's clothes. here she is after raiding otto's drawers. we're still working on getting shirts all the way over her head, but notice she has one leg in each pants leg. NICE!

i never thought of putting this hat/shoe combo together. so stylish. although doesn't it look like she could have a head full of dreadlocks under there??!! what a hippie chick...
