coney island

the kids and i went to coney island with grandma and grandpa hansbauer, aunt tina, and the ford cousins (jacob, hannah, cassie, and ellie). this is always a fun trip to do right before the start of the school year....and this year, greta joins the crew of kids headed to school!! (more on that in another post). here are a few pics from the day, and a short video of ellie and greta on the "froggy jump".

coney island

the kids and i took a trip to coney island this week with janet, ella, and paige. it was a perfect day! the weather was great and the kids enjoyed riding the 'classic rides'. well, until the second to last ride of the day where otto slowly slid towards the opening of the helicopter, and just dangled near the opening until the ride attendant decided to stop the ride to get him off. check him out in the photo, holding onto the buckle for dear life, not to mention looking so ridiculously tired from all the fun he'd had.

it was a great day....ella and greta were all smiles and loved going from ride to ride. and otto would literally bounce up and down with excitement as the ride was going....quite different from the indifference greta showed to the rides when she was around his age.



































if you can look past cute little ella in this picture, you can see that otto is grinning from ear to ear.....he was bouncing up and down as the ride was going, smiling and laughing the whole time!










paige got to join in the fun on the carousel, and we made sure to get her in at least one picture....too cute!

coney has it....

greta and i had a 'date' today at coney island. my mom came and hung out with otto at our house so that greta and i could meet up at coney with my friend erin and her daughter quinn. we had the best time! greta and quinn rode rides while erin and i chatted. we had lunch, walked around, and enjoyed the morning. all the way home, greta kept yelling "ride rides!" like it was the most fantastic thing ever...even though i think they rode a total of 4 rides. and man, oh man, was she exhausted! thanks erin and quinn for such a fun day. and greta for being so much fun to be with...

here are some pics from our trip to coney island with grandma and grandpa hansbauer, greta's aunt tina and cousins jacob, hannah, cassie, and ellie. they were going as a fun trip before hannah and jacob (and tina, who is a teacher) headed back to school. i thought it would be fun if greta and i tagged along and watched the bigger kids ride rides. i had NO IDEA that there would be rides greta could ride. i was a little nervous at first for her to ride, but she had a blast!! the ride on the little trains with hannah was her first ride....it was super duper hot that day and she rode rides like a champ. i even rode a few rides....although the headache after the bumper cars and the queasy stomach after the viking ship reminded me that i am not a youngster anymore.
