blooms and berries

shortsleeves and sunburns again for us this year at the pumpkin patch! it was another warm day (like it was last year) when we headed to blooms and berries to pick pumpkins. well, pick pumpkins, walk the sunflower maze, slide on slides, play in giant vats of corn....you get the idea. everyone had fun....selma loved the corn and actually played in it for several minutes before trying to put some in her mouth.

check out the slideshow (you can click on it to see individual pictures) to see pictures from our trip to blooms and berries to pick pumpkins. it was so much fun!! it was 80 degrees or so, which was bizarre to be pumpkin picking in the first week of october in shorts! the kids enjoyed playing in the corn sandbox and on the slides. they checked out the goats and we walked the path through 7 acres of sunflowers, which was absolutely breathtaking. we had some dinner and picked some pumpkins (5 total, one for each person in our family) before heading home. it was such a a fun time~

burger farm

after the busy day on saturday, sunday morning we decided at the last minute to meet up with the gillards at burger farm to pick pumpkins. it was another gorgeous fall day and greta (and otto) had so much fun. greta and gavin enjoyed seeing some farm animals, riding a pony, and playing some carnival games. we also took a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch. thanks stacy, scott, and gavin for inviting us along!

pumpkin patch

we took greta to Iron's Fruit Farm to pick a pumpkin, and it turned out to be a perfect day. the weather was perfect...a clear, cool fall day. joe thought we should get there right when the farm opened to avoid crowds, and boy was he right. our hayride out to the fields carried only us and one other family. by the time we left there was a line probably 30 minutes long for the ride. greta loves being outside anyway, but she really enjoyed the farm. all she wanted to do was walk around on her own and touch the dirt and try to pick up every pumpkin she saw. walking through a pumpkin patch when you've only been walking for about a month is not an easy task. but she loved it. we saw some animals, had a hayride, picked a pumpkin, and most importantly, had some spice donuts. yum....
